Virginia Beach woman faces multiple drug charges after arrest on Hatteras Island

On June 28, 2021, at approximately 10:48 p.m., a Dare County Deputy working the C District pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation near Pampas Street and N.C. Highway 12 in Avon.

While the deputy was speaking with the driver, they could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, an amount of cocaine and Adderall were located.

Deborah Joy Horton, F/32, of Virginia Beach, VA, was charged with (F) Possession of Cocaine and (F) Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance. She is currently being held at the Dare County Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond.
