Dare County reports 18th COVID-19 death, third in less than a month

Dare County Health and Human Services on Thursday reported a 18th COVID-19 death on its daily pandemic dashboard, the third since late August. No other details about the case have been released.

The county has seen 5,237 COVID-19 cases since testing began last March, with 163 cases currently active among county residents. Fourteen county residents are hospitalized. Among non-residents, there have been 1,752 positive cases since last March, with two currently hospitalized.

Until this August, Dare County had not seen any COVID-19 deaths since April.

The health department reported 23 news cases since Wednesday, with four of the new cases among the vaccinated.
