A report of a possible threat made on Snapchat against Currituck County High School turned out to not be a threat against the school in Barco.

According to a statement from principal Dr. Justin A. Durham, a Snapchat post shared among students Thursday morning indicating a threat of violence at CCHS turned out to be a screenshot from another school district and not a threat against Currituck.

“CCHS administrators notified district administration who thus notified law enforcement. It has been deemed that the Snapchat threat is not credible,” Durham said.

The incident follows a report Tuesday of a threat against Currituck County Middle School that was also found not to be credible.

“We will continue to take all threats against student safety seriously and we will continue to communicated with parents when situations warrant,” Durham added.
