Outer Banks Shrimp Crawl this weekend benefiting Center for Dolphin Research


The Outer Banks Shrimp Cookoff was so popular in 2020 as a Shrimp Crawl, it’s back in 2021!

The 12th annual Outer Banks Shrimp Crawl will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, and Sunday, Nov. 7 at a variety of locations on the Outer Banks to benefit the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research.

Local chefs will compete to prepare the best shrimp dish appetizer. Take the weekend to visit up to five restaurants in either group A or B, and vote for your favorite shrimp dish.

Group A

  • Chef Brad of Two Roads Tavern
  • Chef John of Sandtrap Tavern
  • Chef John of Shipwreck’s Tap House and Grill
  • Chef Matt of Bad Bean Baja Grill (Saturday only)
  • Chef Tony of Outer Banks Brewing Station (dinner only)

Group B

  • Chef Max of Mama Kwan’s Tiki Bar and Grill
  • Chef Kevin of Pony & the Boat Comfort Kitchen (Saturday dinner only)
  • Chef Matt of Noosa Beach Grill
  • Chef Alex of Mahi Mahi’s Island Grill (dinner only)
  • Chef Susan of Basnight’s Lone Cedar Cafe
  • The event also features a virtual silent auction with donations from local businesses, bids are being accepted through Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. at https://www.32auctions.com/obshrimp2021. And volunteers will be at restaurant locations to teach about local dolphin conservation.

    Sponsors for this year’s event will be the Nags Head Dolphin Watch, Kitty Hawk Kites, Outer Banks Veterinary Hospital, Saltbox Cafe, Twiddy & Co., Access Design, and JAM Media Solutions.
