Bill Coleman, former head of the organization that produces The Lost Colony outdoor drama, will become the new executive director of the Outer Banks SPCA beginning January 3.
“We feel fortunate that Bill has agreed to join our organization as we take the next step in creating one of the top Animal Welfare
organizations in the country,” said OBXSPCA Board President Mark Strausbaugh.
“I am extremely excited to be working with a dedicated Board of Directors, volunteers and an exceptionally talented and devoted staff,” Coleman said in a press release.
“I look forward to starting in January and contributing to the continued growth and success of the Outer Banks SPCA’s inspiring and life-saving mission,” Coleman said.
The Outer Banks SPCA operates Dare County’s animal shelter as a non-profit contractor since 1978. The group also offers low-cost spay and neuter assistance, vaccine clinics, supports local wildlife rescue, human law enforcement Animal Control services for lost and stray pets, community outreach and provides volunteer opportunities.
Coleman most recently served as the Executive Director for Foothills Humane Society in Polk County, according to a news release. He also has 25 years as a senior management leader of non-profit organizations in North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky.
