Town of Manteo Police Chief Vance Haskett has formally retired as of October 31, 2023.

Chief Haskett began his service as a Police Officer for the Town of Manteo Police Department on March 16, 1999.  He was awarded Officer of the Year during his first year on the police force.

Chief Haskett was promoted to Sergeant on May 31, 2005. He became Interim Police Chief on August 31, 2007, and was later promoted to Police Chief on October 8, 2007. He has had an active 24-year career in law enforcement with the Town of Manteo.

The Town of Manteo Board of Commissioners and staff offer their sincere appreciation to Chief Haskett for his dedicated service to the Town of Manteo.

The Town will be accepting applications for qualified Police Chief candidates. Additional information regarding the recruitment process will be forthcoming.
