Man wanted by local authorities arrested in Buxton - OBX Today
George Thomas King. (Dare County Sheriff’s Office)

On July 23, 2024, at approximately 7:13 am, a Deputy working the C-District noticed a vehicle parked at the Frisco Bath House that belonged to a person that was wanted for two outstanding warrants. The Deputy made contact with the person, but they did not listen to commands and left in their vehicle headed northbound on NC Hwy 12. It continued northbound, not stopping for blue lights and sirens. A Lieutenant with the Sheriff’s Office was able to deploy stop sticks on the vehicle in the area of Spencer Lane in Frisco resulting in the deflation of all the vehicle tires. It continued northbound until it reached the parking lot of Phillip’s Boat Works in Buxton, NC, where it lost control and came to a stop.  It was then blocked from leaving from pursuing units and the person was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

George Thomas King, 60, of Buxton was arrested and charged with the initial two warrants for (M) Larceny and then charged with (F) Flee/Elude with Motor Vehicle, (M) Resist, Delay and Obstruct (RDO), (M) Reckless Driving to Endanger, (M) Carry Concealed Weapon and (M) Unsafe Tires.  King was given a $20,000 secured bond.

NC State Highway Patrol and Dare County EMS assisted with this incident.
