Water’s Edge Village School (WEVS – pronounced “waves”), the beach’s only public charter school, now in its 10th year, has opened registration for its annual lottery for enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year.
Any NC child entering K- 8th grade is eligible to enroll. The school has a maximum capacity of 46 students and is expecting to have eight open spots for the upcoming year. Should more than eight students sign up, names will be drawn following the published policy. That policy and the Request for Admission/Lottery Enrollment form are found online: https://www.watersedgevillageschool.com/lottery-enrollment
WEVS is located in the historic Corolla Village and follows the NC State Standards through a project-based learning model. WEVS’s lottery does not discriminate on any basis, including race, color, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation or expression, national/ethnic origin, or disability.
Water’s Edge Village School provides local education to its isolated coastal community, a place rich in natural resources and environmentally-focused organizations. Galvanized by a diverse community of people deeply invested in the success of a local school and grounded in partnerships with children and families, WEVS provides a rigorous, child-centered learning environment. Leadership principles and an academically challenging, integrated, hands-on curriculum empower students by instilling a sense of social and environmental responsibility while nurturing both body and mind. WEVS enjoys a project-based learning model with multi-grade classes.
